Well it is nothing to rival the Arkansas variety but it is close to home.
I figured that this image of a waterfall just a few minutes from my house would be a good way to check in for 2010 and say hi. I made the trek thru snow that varied from ankle to knee deep to get this picture before today's warm temps since I figured that the ice front would probably fall off soon. This is a blend of three images to cover the wide contrast range.
It looks like everyone has been busy from all the great images that have been posted since my last visit. Have a great 2010 everyone!

Hi Dale
Good shot! This is instantly recognizable as a waterfall that appears to have suddenly frozen in place. The reflection in the pool is really nice. Good job on the blend too.

Hey Dale, nice to see you posting again. Sounds like quite an adventure getting to this location. But that's usually half the fun. Great job with the blend, and well-composed. Nice work overall.
Hope you can make it down for the gathering this spring!

Howdy Dale, great to see you out getting some nature stuff in. Even if it is in the middle of winter, great job.

Yep, looks like winter to me. Your trip to the frozen fall sounds right up my alley, trapsing through the snow. Nice job capturing the scene too.
Don't be a stranger Dale, a guy can't live off shooting sports all the time!

Thanks John.
Bill, I am going to try to make a trip your way this spring. Not sure of the schedule yet.
Hey Brad. I have been enjoying your Flint Hills scenes.
Thanks Wayne. On my trip back out of here I stepped off in a ditch and went into snow up over my knees. This threw my balance off and I just set back on the snow. With the weight of my camera pack on my back I really struggled to get my weight thrown forward so I could stand up. I probably looked like a turtle on his back thrashing around in the snow. I did make a pretty good snow angel in the process but I was happy I was by myself so there are no incriminating pictures.

Nice shot, I really like the reflection of the frozen waterfall in the water.
