I took this a couple nights ago, just as the last light was hitting the reeds and buckled ice. 7D, ISO 200, 1/15, f/11, polarizer

Some nice pastel colors in this shot Rob. I like the tufts of reeds and the small accumulations of snow nearby. Had you not mentioned them I wouldn't have known that was buckled ice. How are you liking the 7D?

I really like how the warm afternoon light contrasts with the cold blue ice - very nice. I'm not sure if I've ever seen ice buckle in a marsh environment...but it looks interesting.

Thanks, Wayne and Bill. Wayne, I'm getting the hang of the 7D. I was amazed how well ISO 3200 cleaned up while shooting a dark sky. I can't wait to try it under the full moon.
Bill, Cheyenne Bottoms is comprised of several large pools of relatively shallow water. This type of buckling is very common during the winter in a couple of the pools. Right now I bet most of the water is only a few inches deep at best.

Very interesting shot Rob, I like the colors. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that with the buckled ice.

Nice light and colors, and I'll agree with the others...very interesting how the ice buckles. Thanks for sharing Rob.
