Took a trip out to the Dunes Tuesday to swap out my vc print, and do some more photography. Stopped at Zapata on the way in (figured id take advantage of the absence of snow) and then hiked out into a little visited part of the dunes for sunset. Clear skies workeed best for some large scale abstracts (see my ESS post) and night shots. Heres the Sangres and dunes just before sunset.

#5 Flare was very problematic--had to use all sorts of strategies to minimize it, fortunately this escaped largely unscathed.

#6 Ive done the blending thing for night dune shots, so this time i wanted to go for a more natural approach using single exposures in the twilight, this was about 15 min or so after sunset.

#7 last one--this is Orion looking East as i returned back towards high dune. 20s, f4, ISO 1600, single exposure.

Nice Stan, I like #1, 5 and 7. The stars are pretty sharp for a 20 secs exposure.
I want 5 to be softer and less sharp I think.

Gorgeous series, Stan...love the night shot and #5.

Another great series from you, Stan. I'm a fan of your night shots, so that one is my favorite.

#3 and #5 are KILLER, Stan. They're all nice but I've come to expect nothing less from you. Those two are just freakin' standouts in a killer group of photos. Good work!

You keep coming up with unique shots of the dunes. Great stuff.

Yep, 5 has it all going on. And 2 is cool because it looks like a macro shot of rope.

Wow, all nice, but #5 is killer! Perfect dynamic lines.
#3 is also really cool too. Awesome textures, shadows, and lines on both!

Fantastic Set Stan, I liked them all, but I think that 1, 3, 4 and 5 are my favorites. I love compositions you have, also the abstract work you got here really cool. All in all superb work Stan !!

Another strong series, Stan. #1 is gorgeous - great comp and color. I like #6 a lot, too; I wish there was a little more foreground - I like the effect of the contrast and muted color contributed by the tufts of grass, but the sliver that's there feels a little thin. The last one is very cool. Good stuff!
