As many of you may know, I was an Artist-in-Residence last year on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. One of the requirements of the Artist-in-Residence program is that the artist must donate an original work representative of his or her medium to the park's museum collection.

It's time for me to select an image to donate. As I have become very attached to several of the images, I am having a very difficult time selecting one. I have (with the help of my wife) culled my selection down to 15 photos, but I need your help selecting one to be donated to the park.

You can view the photos on my Facebook fan page. Please vote for your three favorite photos. Voting will end at midnight on January 19th, 2010. All voters will be entered to win a 11" x 14" print of their choice from the top 3 fan selections. The winner will be announced on my Facebook fan page, January 22, 2010.

Thank you! :wavey:

p.s. you can see all my Grand Canyon photos here

Question: Do you retain the copyright of the image donated? Or do you give up your right to use/sell this image in the future?
Posted by Jack Garrett on January 14, 2010 at 11:30 PM
Adam, I cannot figure how to vote on your page...there is no option to add comments.

Phil,

I do give up some rights to the park. The NPS refers to it as a 'shared' copyright which allows them to have complete access to reproduction and use rights of the donated work and will retain ownership of the work but the artist will share those rights. This gives NPS the ability to include artists’ work in publications or educational programming, while allowing the artist to also use their work for their own purposes.

What a collection Adam! Sounds like you had quite a nice time there!

Your full collection was a joy to browse, Adam.
My favorite was the summer monsoon in Bright Angel Canyon - not included in your final subset.

Sorry, I'm not a Facebook member.

#14 is my favorite (sorry, I'm not on Facebook). But I'm not sure I would donate my favorite one!

A VERY good problem to have and a sick series, Adam. I keep coming back to #6 for the rich colors, dramatic sky and slice of the river. Although Ribbon Falls is insanely beautiful and 2 and 12 have that master photographer quality, the GC experience (for me) is largely about the elements in #6. I also think that if you have to pick one, it should have the river in view - without it there would be no GC. Thanks for letting us confuse you even more. Awesome! :toast:

I like number 4 and 14.

Adam, What a Beautiful collection! My favorites are 6 then 13. Then for my 3rd choice I have to say I choose God Beam at Cape Royal, that's not included in your top 15.

#10 for me. It shows an unusual view of the Grand Canyon. But #14 is pretty darn good too.

Really tough call. You have a wonderful set of captures here. Just love ones like 9, 12 and 14.

That said, to me #1 probably captures my feeling of the GC the best and gets my vote.

I also like 14 the best. Have fun.

Oh yeah, 14 is killer. That glow though the gap is just wonderful.

Just wonderful work. 14, 2, 4, 6, and then all the others!

Tough to choose, Adam. I couldn't see where to vote on Facebook (I was logged in) so I'll just say 14, 13, and 6. That's an amazing portfolio you have there.

Adam your best I think is 14!!! That glow is crazy beautiful!!! :toast:

I'm on FB and logged on but couldn't find any link to click on to vote. I rarely visit FB so maybe its a matter of becoming educated in the ways of FB. My vote is for #11, followed by #1 and #14
