Haven't managed much time out so far this year so here's one of my favourite subjects from just before the snow fell. The sun was just hitting the heather as it rose and it was quite unusual to see a grouse against blue sky rather than the backdrop of hills/heather.
A beautiful portrait in lovely light with the frosted heather really adding another dimension. I guess the only nit would be that the grouse looks a little sleepy though that is a very minor point
I do like your Grouse shots, Simon and this one works for me too. It has a slightly stark look to it which I presume is down to the time of year/state of the vegetation - this makes it somewhat different from the other Grouse shots I have seen from you.

Great colours and I agree unusual to see one against a blue sky (going only by shots posted as I have rarely seen them!), If anything, I might adjust the composition to add a smidgeon on the left and take a tad off the top. Personal preference of course.
