Orange
Wash detail in Death Valley, it's a crop. Just kind of fell in love with the scene with out sky.

Orange what? Interesting abstract for sure. I would be in favor of cropping even a bit more from the top to just above the spine running across the frame. I think getting rid of the little clump, some dark things and the lighter area compacts the scene just that much more and makes it a bit more abstract. I'm also wondering if you captured anything closer too.

This seems a little flat to me, Steve. The light wasn't working for you, here. I suggest a crop down from the top to just above the dark area on the right. The color looks interesting, and the shapes are nice; it just needs better light and/or contrast.

I'd lose too much if it was cropped any more. Too bad I didn't take any more shots. At least I had the place all to my lonesome.

Lon, I took this 9 months ago so I guess it's my orange baby.

Preston, I'm going to recalibrate, long overdue! Before I play with it. Thanks for the suggestions you two. I can't really crop it, here is the full frame

lonesome for a reason, but you find interesting things in parts of your images that are nice, but your eye seems to find something more, I didn't see this abstract in the full image, but you did. Makes me want to revist many of my older images to see what is hiding in them.

Yes, GF it's always nice to leave some images for a suprise later.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. cropped it slightly but the compression is killing it. Moved the slider on down to 4 after save as.

How do you get something like this with all the tiny details to show here? The scene plays tricks on me some parts seem blurry some don't.

Very interesting, Steve. I've never seen any sections of Death Valley like this.

As a large print I'd probably find myself very satisfied studying the more abstract version without the sky. The subtle shapes and textures look interesting enough for me. That said, I think this is one of those images where the sky version works better as a small web image for sheer initial impact. Nice find!
