Dead Winter- Rocky Mountain National Park

I packed up to the Loch last week to test some new winter gear for an overnighter. I was also curious about how sunrise would look at this time of year from West Glacier Knob. It turned out to be a complete dud, however I'm thinking my alpen glow pano might be worth keeping. A dud in respect to light, or I should say what light. The sun is so far south, that Longs Peak blocks all early intimate lighting from this perspective.

The Loch is a dark and cold place in winter.

I guess "dud" can be a very subjective term. That's a sweet shot, Kane, punctuated by that little crescent moon up there, and the sweet pink clouds.

I shot this one in Nikon "vivid" which most of the time seems too saturated for my taste. I added contrast and pulled out some shadow and got this one. Its a five shot pano. Close to 60mbs. Glad you like it.

I think it's a very well done pano, too. Maybe lose the bare tree in the lrc.

Kane...that is a great shot... a lot of details there. I agree with Todd... moon adds a nice touch!!

I like this, Kane. The moon certainly adds to it. I've said this before, but knowing the effort you put in to get this makes it that much more appealing to me.

Nice photo. I've see some good sunrises looking the opposite direction from Sky Pond /Timberline Falls area. I climbed the falls today and you could probably find it somewhere in this photo if you zoomed in enough.
