It is with great regret that I have to inform you of the death of Andy Darrington, he passed away yesterday after a couple of days in intensive care after suffering what turned out to be a haemorrhaged brain tumour, he was 49.
He has been a good friend of mine for several years, we've shared some great trips to various places photographing all sorts of subjects.
I have contacted the photographers, that I was aware of, who knew him and would like to appologise to anyone who I've missed prior to posting this announcement.

Sorry to hear the news Nigel :frown:, I've always enjoyed the images that Andy shared with us on the fourm.

I'm sure everyone here will join me in expressing their condolences to Andy's family at this difficult time for them.

Yes indeed.... an absolute tragedy for his family at such a dreadfully young age.

May I also mention the sad loss of Chris Gill from the Wirral who passed away on the 29th December after a very brave battle against Lymphoma.

He wasn't known for his wildlife photography (being an ex pro golfer, his metier was naturally Golf) but I know he was well known to several forum members through his involvement with a now defunct Canon forum

God bless them and their families at a most difficult time

I'd like to echo the comments above. Andy helped me on a couple of occasions with photography related queries that I had and always seemed to be on hand to provide advice.

Condolences to his family at this time.

Chris.

Hi Nigel
Deeply sad news I have only had the pleasure of knowing Andy in past 18 months and I was contacted by his closest pal and fellow photographer Brian Beven on tuesday about he had been rushed in to hospital.
He had a great wealth of knowledge in wildlife photography and I was lucky to of gained some of this over such a short time he will greatly missed and such a gental man and freind.
Condolences to his mother and his many freinds.

I only got to know Andy in the last 2 years. Larger than life with a great practical knowledge of wildlife and digital photography he was also one of the most generous people I have known. I was fortunate to spend a memorable week in his company last October photographing green woodpeckers, sparrow hawks and black squirrels amongst other subjects. He will be greatly missed.
