Bret Edge and I have just released our second iFotoGuide iPhone app. iFotoGuide-Yosemite Valley.
Rather than a regular travel app, this one is particularly designed for photographers. Besides all the general area information, we include a Yosemite map with all the great places to shoot marked with buttons. Clicking on a button will give you detailed information about the location and photos.
Locations are also divided up between sunrise, sunset and any time locations.
We appreciate your suggestions and feedback. We really want these apps to be useful and helpful.

Great idea! Are you also going to develop these guides for the Android system so that they can be used on the new Droid, Nexus One, et al phones?

The iPhone uses a different operating system and programming language than Android OS so the apps will have to be totally rewritten. If they do well on the iPhone we'll certainly look at Android phones.

Congrats Dan and Bret. Wish I had an iPhone to download and check it out.
BTW, since I don't have one, the link just goes to the iTunes site. Is there a link directly for info on the app? Or can I only see it by using an iPhone?
Just call me behind the times... But congrats anyway and I wish you great success with this and future photo apps.

If you had an iTunes account for an iPhone or iPod, then it would go to the app. Otherwise, iTunes just loads.
Great news Dan, I'm planning to get to Yosemite this year so got the app, looks great.

Lon: We've got a designer working diligently to launch our new iFotoGuide website. The site will contain screenshots, tons of info, newsletter sign-up, our blog and more. The URL is http://www.ifotoguide.com. We should be live by early February.
Andre: Thanks for buying the app. Definitely let us know what you think of it. We're open to your compliments, criticism and suggestions.

I think that these guides are a great idea and would definitely buy them if I had an iPhone. Unfortunately, I don't see myself buying one anytime soon.
I'm wondering, have you considered making these work on a computer? I travel with my little netbook and I know that a lot of photographers bring a laptop to backup and view their photos.

Tom: At this time we don't have any plans to create them for computers. I'll leave the technical explanations to Dan but I think it would require completely re-programming them to work for such an application AND finding a way to market and sell them. Keep in mind that the apps do work on the iPod Touch.
If Apple releases the much talked about tablet this month the apps will most likely work on it. Thanks for your feedback.
