Considering using PhotoShelter.com for my website hosting.
My Coppermine Photo Gallery at HowardCheekPhotography.com was recently hacked into with a trojan mal-script attack. Still waiting for 1&1 Internet to send the database backup as requested, they're dragging their feet..Not happy with them.
It has taken a week to get action from them. Now they say the oldest available backup is January 13th. Originally it was the 10th with my first contact. The actual attack was on January 12th.
The problem with that is that I removed the site to scan it on my PC, and the actual database with all the images was not there on the 13th..
The whole process has been a real pain. If they can't provide me with the database, I will have to reload over 500 images again and, keyword, title, descriptions, etc.
So PhotoShelter sounds very good right now.
ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH Photo Shelter out there??
Any comments appreciated.

Hello Howard, I'm actually setting up my Photoshelter account RIGHT NOW :)
Along with starting a Virtual Agency to bring multiple photographers together to combine our marketing power. Let me know if you might be interested in joining my VA in the future. The back-end admin. (web-based) is very intuitive and there are plenty of helpful tutorials (video & written) and forums to really help you through the process. It is all very customizable, and their SEO is supposed to be top notch. As it is not fully set up yet, I can't give you any definitive advice on how well it will work in the end. But I am actually enjoying the process so far.
I too am setting up at PhotoShelter. I've been VERY cautious about getting on the 'net because of just such occurrences as yours, Howard. What got me interested, and now started on it, is that some really big name pros such as Art Wolfe are using it.
Hope things straighten out for you at the other place. What a bummer. Also hope some folks who are all set up on PhotoShelter will chime in and tell us more about their experiences.
I've been using Photoshleter for a couple of months now. Very easy to use and great service! Haven't used all the options yet but I'm very content about what I have right now and there are many possibilities I still need to discover (The Virtual Agency being one of them). I can say their SEO is great and they keep adding stuff (like new Print vendors etc). Definitly reccomend it!

I literally just finished creating and linking my new Photoshelter archive to my existing website. I haven't had it live for very long but the process was pretty straight forward. Photoshelter provides tons of helpful info and tutorials to get you through the set up. It was definitely a project, many hours spent prepping images and creating the galleries, navigation, choosing a theme, setting up e-commerce functionality and uploading images.
Now comes the hard part, marketing the images to prospective buyers. My two main reasons for going with the photoshelter option were search-ability and e-commerce aided by fotoquote. I'm using it as a supplement to my existing site until I can afford to bring them under one roof.

Glad you asked this question Howard as I'm also considering Photoshelter. I used them for awhile when they were actually selling stock photos in through their 'marketplace', but they gave that up right when I started. Since I wasn't ready to market my own stock photos I didn't follow through with a paid account.
Kurt, what part of your website is hosted by Photoshelter? The galleries? I really like how that looks.

Thanks Scott. The link in my previous post is just to the photoshelter galleries. The link in my signature goes to my website and then the search stock links in my navigation go to the photoshelter archive. I set up the photoshelter site so if someone landed there first it could stand on its own as a searchable stock site.

I have paid for the standard package at PhotoShelter, and redesigning my homepage. I'm losing the Coppermine Photo Gallery as well.
Hope to have it up by this weekend, but it will take some time to get it all loaded of course..
I sincerely appreciate all the comments, they made it easy to make the right choice
Thank you
