Due to the extreme weather, I was unable to follow my usual route following the River Wey as it was so flooded. I therefore went hunting for photos across some meadows but it was on my way back walking across some flooded football pitches that I found this guy. I was able to get a few image before leaving him in piece.

Worth getting wet for as I dont think the shot would have had the same impact from a higher angle though. Great pose from the bird. I think a crop from the bottom will make it stronger. Well spotted... I dont normally see them until they are flying off into the distance.
Well done Liam. I might have been tempted to frame him a little lower in the image, both to cut out a little of the foreground and reveal a little more of the habitat behind. Good fieldcraft though to get in to this position

Worth getting wet for - great low angle shot of a bird in habitat. I would also crop a little from the bottom.

nits covered, not the easiest of birds to see let alone get a decent shot of so well worth the effort.

Hello Liam.
Avery good enviromentl shot and the POV is fine for me, I think if you had gone any lower that blad of grass would gone across the birds eye. Its all so nice to see the water where a lower POV would have turned this to mush which would have taken the enviroment feel away from it.
I think this is a great shot and really conveys the secretive nature of these birds. Very difficult to get close to these so well impressed with your stalking skills.
