This image was taken back in January of 2009 just north of Tehachapi. I really liked the different color layers and the way the oaks are just by their lonesome. Any comments?

I like this, John. It's very well composed with the positioning of the trees,
as if they're on a diagonal receding line. The lighter area in the background'
gives some variety to the image.
This does have a 'lonesome' feel to it. The sunlit area in the background is a little distracting to me as it takes my eye off of the trees. Just a suggestion, but you might try bringing that area down just a bit to balance things out. I like the forms and the lines. The Oak Savannah in CA is truly beautiful countryside.
Nice work!

I like the lonesome effect. Nice sky, too. I would echo Preston's thoughts on the bright area.

This does have a nice feel to it, but like some other comments, I find the bright areas a little distracting. I would mind the foreground and tree opened up a little too.

This is really nice, John. I do wish there was a little separation between the two trees on the right, but still a great scene.

I agree with the others to some extent. I think I'd also try to bring out the foreground a bit more to balance things out. That being said, conversely I'd consider turning this into a pano and crop the foreground until about an inch below the first tree.
