Has any one had any problems with the 5D MK2 locking up? Mine just freezes and the view finder goes kind of a grainy gray sometimes if I just move the zoom a bit it clears up sometimes not. I see it mostly with the 24-105 F4 L but that is probably because I am almost always using that glass. I have seen it with the 17-40 F4 L as well. It has always done this occasionally but on my current trip it is doing it often enough to be a major pain. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks

Just as a quick follow up. I generally go with the motto, if it ain't broke, don't fix it so I was way behind on firmware updates. I just updated from 1.1.0 to 1.2.4. I don't know if this will resolve the issue but should know by tomorrow sometime.
Thanks

Sorry to hear of your issues. I would try cleaning the lens/body contacts with an eraser as well as the FW updates you already did.

That sounds like the aperture is stopping down, similar to when you press the Depth of Field preview button.

I just got home from a short trip and tried cleaning the contacts. Just did a few quick shots and it appears to be ok but I won't know for sure for a couple of weeks when I actuall get out and do some serious shooting again.
Adam I also tried using the depth of field button, which I hardly ever use and that is exactly what it looked like when locking up.
I'm hoping that cleaning the contacts did the trick, time will tell.
I'll post back when I'm a little more sure that it really is working.
