Dog Otter
I have been after this large Dog Otter for a while but so far he has eluded me. I will be working on these Otters over the course of the year so want to capture the whole family really and this male is important to my project. On this ocaision I was watching him hunting for fish just ofshore so decided to get in front of him and take a chance and wait. He then caught a large fish and came towards my hiding place but sensed me and I thought I had blown it but then he just came to these rocks and broke that barrier that has been between us so far and I then managed to spend the next fifteen minutes with him in the most beautiful light I have witnessed in Scotland.

Continuing to raise the bar in otter photography, you really are a little (enter expletive here!!)

The lighting is superb, Danny, but for me this is just a little bit too dark in the shadows. Still the sort of shot that most of us can only dream of though.

I tend to agree with David on this one. Having said as much though, I've not seen one in the wild myself and it's certainly a shot I'd love to have in the bag :toast:

That's a beauty Danny. It looks a bit dark to me in the shadows as well, but as I have been having nearly as much trouble with my monitor as you have with yours, I am perhaps not the best judge at the moment.

lighting is truly perfect here, draws the eye straight to the face, excellent setting too

I agree with Jack re the light on the face. There is also just the right amount of light across his back and underneath him to outline the rest of the body imho...works very well for me, love it.

A beautiful shot Danny but think I would also like the shadows lifted a little. :wavey:

Nice one Danny :toast:

Could do with a bit of a lift in the shadows

Lovely dark processed image...just the way I like them...shadows look okay on my screen. Scotland is great when the light is right! I like it the way it is and I think the print will look pretty smart too.
