On Quandary
A couple of images from Quandary's summit on Sunday. I carried just a G10 because it was snowing at the TH and I didn't think I'd be doing any serious photography. The clouds lifted some when we were around timberline and it turned into a blustery day along the ridge crest, with fast moving squalls above 12K. We were lucky to see anything from the top, as the clouds closed in - we finished in heavy snow.

These are great Dave! And really happen to make me appreciate the warmth of my living room :-)

Quandary was my first 14'er  Certainly looks hellish under these conditions.

Like how the climber really shows the scale. Like those clouds as well.

Great Photos, love the pano as well. Looks like a fun, as well as cold adventure.

That pano is awesome, Dave! Iver been thinking of doing Quandary this winter if i get the time--how long did it take to summit?

Thanks for the comments, folks. Stan: the hike up is ~ 3.25 miles and 3,400 vertical feet. It is generally packed down and although we caried snowshoes, we never put them on. Micro spikes or Yak traks are a good way to go - it gets pretty slippery on the steeper sections. Because of our group size, it took around 3 hours to get to the top. A strong solo hiker could do it in less. And you'll want down for shooting and some sort of facemask - balaclava or neck gaiter. That expose southern ridge catches wicked wind!

Dang. Looks cold, but so inviting! The solo figure really adds scale to the 1st image. Nice set.
