Fog
NE Kansas was inundated with fog most of the last week.

This from a Sunday morning jaunt before church.

Nikon D700, Nikkor 28 mm f/2.8 @ f/22, 1/4 sec., ISO 800.

Did some brightening of the foreground with Capture NX2.

Appears to be some color aberration on left and right side. Or just how the light was coming down???

Fog can be difficult...

the foreground to me is a bit distracting and takes away from the overall image. I think I would have tried to get past the brushy foreground and just focus on the snow and trees on the right. My thought on fog is that simplicity works best and I think those trees on the right could just be the ticket.

I know that D700 looks great at ISO 800 but you could have probably got away with a lower ISO and larger f stop. I think f/16 and ISO 400 might have still given you sufficient depth of field and lower noise. F/11 at ISO 200 may still have been okay since you are at 28mm. You did recognize good conditions which is more important than and techno mumbo jumbo that I can spill out.

I like the splash of red and orange in the foreground which contrasts nicely against the low contrast background.
