Layer comp
Here's another one from last summer, unseen til now. Some out-of-state forest fire smoke provided the color. On the far left, next to Rachel Maddow, is the 13,113-foot volcanic neck of Lizard Head. In the center with Brian Lamb are fourteeners Mt. Wilson and El Diente, along with barely discernable almost-fourteener Gladstone Peak in front, and a little closer still, little 12,930-foot Sunshine Mtn. On the far right, over there by Rush Limbaugh, is another fourteener, Wilson Pk.

LOL... And what's up in outer space with Glenn Beck?

Sweet shot, very mellow. Where did you shoot this from?

Todd, you need to rename this "political landscape" . Something I like about smoke is you can photograph a lot longer in the morning and the evening. Provides a natural warming filter. Nice layering for sure and good texture in the foreground.

I really like the layering here, Todd. Nice subtle light hitting some of the ridges too. Have you tried a B&W conversion?

Sweet layered look and unusual sky - it would certainly hold my interest for a month in a calendar. I think I'll dedicate myself to learning layer comps - that should keep me busy for 2010.

Todd... love this one. Great layers as you saw...love the colors and beautiful light!! I think the best part of the image is the light reflecting on the foreground ridge... :toast: :toast:

The different tones are just great. Each layer slightly different than the next in shape, tone, and color. A superior shot, Todd.

This is a new angle, where did you shoot from? Cool yellow and commentary.
