I had a great experience with this Otters. One came out of the river and presented the fish to it's mate. The river Dee in Aberdeenshire was practically frozen over. Pic. taken 2010 Canon 500mm lens 1.4 conv. F5.6 Iso 400 1/500sec. All comments welcomed.

Hi Nice capture john, great to see them on the Ice, Like the fish tail too .
composition is perfect. Still one of the mammals i have never seen in the wild. one day
That is an absolute corker John. The snow giving a very different take on the usual otter image particularly as so many are shot on the coast.

Hi John, I am not sure that the background (snow?) adds a great deal to this shot, and I would therefore crop it to a panoramic shape. I love the very low pov, and as an experience it must have been fantastic. Possibly a little chilly as well...

I love it, it has a great sense of presence and offers a completely different setting to the other fab otter shots which the others have put up recently.
I agree with David's comment on the snow but wonder if an alternative might be to add a little selective contrast to bring out some more of the edginess of it?
Love everything about this one John, great capture indeed.

Very nice indeed and just love the sense of survivorship in these cold conditions. Great details and composition works well for me.

Cracking shot John.
Looks to be really enjoying the fish

This one has everything! Both otters have interesting behaviour - I particularly like the way the left one appears to be keeping a watch. The other one is engrossed in eating and the fish tail is just great. The composition works really well for me as is.

Just to demonstrate that it is all opinion, I think that the snow adds a great deal to the shot and I wouldn't alter it at all. So different from any other otter shot I can remember. Excellent. Eric

Super shot. I agree with Eric; removing any part of the background would destroy the well considered composition and make for a much inferior image in my opinion. A very nice piece of work.

Hello John.
Lovely image and the setting is great for me and the snow in the background couldn't be better.
