Ok,

I just looked at the weather cams and it looks beautiful in the park.

Our local weather man was saying this would be a great weekend for skiing. I thinking the same thing about Winter photography. But I don't know if I can break away.

Does anyone plan on braving the roads for that fresh white stuff in the Sierras? I can imagine the drive will involve chains and plenty of snow along the way.

* Update: I just Checked the road conditions and all roads into the park are currently closed. So I called the Ahwahnee for the inside scoop and they said the closures are due to downed trees. Once the those are cleared some roads may reopen.

Assuming the roads open, I'm thinking about driving up to Yosemite from LA early Saturday and staying one night in one of the heated tents in curry village, then driving home Sunday after sunset. If anybody in the LA area is interested, send me a mail. I've got a 4wd vehicle.

I was planning on going to Aberdeen to the cabin, but the low temperature Friday night was 13 degrees with a wind chill factor of Zero. I'm a wimp, but if that pilot light on the heater doesn't light. I don't have the clothes that will handle temps like that. Earlier there was chain control on 395 from 3 miles north of the Inyo County line to Bishop. Probably for ice. So I put off the trip for a week.

I hear you Paul. Better safe than sorry. And I'm sure there be some snow left especially if this El Nino patterns continues this Winter. I look forward to seeing some images from your adventures.

The easier access from to the Eastern side of the Sierras is the one thing I really miss about living in SoCal. Once all Tioga et al passes close down for the Winter it makes getting to the Eastern side very difficult from NorCal.
