Hi All,

Be advised that all all entrances to Yosemite Valley are currently closed as of 10:30 A.M. pst.

Go Here dor more info.

If you're planning to go to the park, you'll need to keep an eye on this, as it could change at any time.

btw: We're currently experiencing snow conditons at 2200 feet in the Motherlode.

Wow, 2200 feet! Sweet!!! Is that Motherload aka Columbia? Heck who needs Yosemite when you have it in your back yard?

Wow is right..I suppose it is a good thing that I am stuck behind a desk for the day...not!!

Preston -- if you don't mind, assuming conditions persist and a park visit is not possible tomorrow. Can you make any suggestions for a flatlander coming from the Sacramento area? Am interested in meadow areas with oaks that may have received a blanket of snow.

Thanks -- Bishop

Per the road hotline number on the Yosemite website, the entrances are closed due to downed trees, not snow. I am guessing it is due to either very heavy snow or windy or both. I was there over Xmas in 2008 and the heavy snow was causing trees to fall all over the valley.

There are wind advisories for the Central valley today and highway 41 just north of Oakhurst on the way to Yosemite is closed due to downed power lines. Highway 41 near the 46 (out of Paso Robles) is closed due to a rockslide for anyone coming from the coast to Yosemite. You would have to take 46 to 5, then head north.

Things seem to be quite the mess!
