Prowling
I ran across this coyote on an early morning prowl a few days ago. The photo was taken on the Ridgefield Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, and for me is a reminder of the hard life some animals have on a daily basis as they hunt down their next meal. I love the OOF BG and colors.

Excellent shot, Craig.. the placement within the frame is perfect... we are looking at houses right now in Ridgefield.. it would be cool to have this refuge in our backyard..

Oh now that's nice! I should check fauna more often, I really enjoy it, but never seem to make the time. I agree about the framing, it helps convey motion along with capturing the coyote in stride. I like how the focus frames too.

Sensational. Craig, this is a terrific shot of a coyote on the prowl. As you said, the background is wonderfully smooth. Love that bokeh.

Another great wildlife shot. Boy, Craig, you're coming up with some good ones. I'm sure gonna have to check out Ridgefield when I can next plan a getaway. Love the dof, too; I often use a similar exposure setting as you used here. Learned it from our friends in the Avian forum by looking at their posts. Isn't NPN great?!

Awesome. The position, the light, the sharpness and oof background all work great for me. :toast:

All works well for me... I would like to see the BG a bit darker but that's just me.... this is an excellent image.

A wonderful photo. Nailed it technically but wonderful aesthetically as well. I really like the texture of the fur, but most of all the combination of the look on the face and the raised front leg. Reminded me right away of Jay Maisel's advice that gesture is often as important as color and light.

Nice use of aperture to make the subject stick out nicely. :)
