Here's one more from last October during the rut at Richmond Park.
The situation I found myself in was one of low light and no tripod. I did steady up by pressing my camera and lens against a log on the ground, but I'm not sure if it might have been enough, it's a little soft. (Should have shot at ISO 1000, I guess.)
Anyway, a Nikon D700 with a 70-200 VR at 1/45 sec, f3.3 and ISO 400.

Hi David,
Looks very nice and sharp at this size. Nice comp and I like the setting.
Well caught. In an ideal world I suppose it would have been nicer to have had les foliage behind the stag but you can only shoot what is in front of you. Nice image.
Robert.

Hello David.
Love the colours in this and the composition of the stag is well placed, I also like the subtle colours of the trees in the background which is what makes the colours in the main part of the image work so well.

You did well with getting exposure right on this as well as hand-holding (ish) at that shutter speed.

Ooooh I missed this; excellent and beautiful shot, great colours and framing.
Being almost uneccessarily picky, I might be tempted to crop the right hand side of the image (about 5mm) to just within the right side of the tree trunk and lose the sliver of lit area beyond as this adds nothing to the image because the trees have framed the main content so well.
