Hi All
In previous years the arrival of snow has seen me running around to numerous locations to get pictures, a tactic that resulted in well, very little.
Following a loosely formed 'new year's resolution' to make more of my home-patch, I got a hide up in the garden and put some food out. Not only did I secure some really intimate portraits of blackbirds and fieldfare, I also had an immensely enjoyable and satisfying couple of weeks worth of photography (ingredients I've felt have been missing from my photography of late).
C&C welcome, cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris, lovely portait of this nice guy. I like the repetition of the yellow tones in the
apple, beak and eye.

Hi Chris,
Very nice portrait! I'm glad you are enjoying your photography again, its so easy to dismiss whats on your doorstep.
Hi Chris, I know what you mean. It is all too easy to become a bit jaded but when you set yourself a goal and achieve such a fine result as this it really can pick you up again.

I think this is really strong. I particularly like the 'boundaries' formed by the darker top of frame fading down to the apple and the well-judged fade to white at the bottom. The elements that go to make a successful image are often (as here) really very simple. The skill is in putting them together in the right proportions to make the image 'work'. And that has been achieved here very eloquently.

Hello Chris.
Super portrait.
Thats one thing I really do like about the snow when photographing birds with dark plumage and the way it just makes for that perfect reflector, and brings out all that detail in the bird and we still keep the details in the white of the snow.
