Sorry I haven't been around much lately; a bad reaction to some antibiotics has taken me out of the field pretty much since Thanksgiving (bad joint, muscle, and tendon pains).
But I've finally had the chance to go back through a few trips I never posted, and I thought I'd share. First up is a trip to Assateague Island (in Maryland and Virginia). Lighting was cruddy for most of the day, but the wildlife during this off-season trip was very co-operative.
This Great Egret sat calmly on his perch across a small canal from one of the Visitor Centers. I took about 100 shots of him and a few other herons and egrets along the canal in the lousy light and was about ready to call it quits when some weak sunlight broke through; I quickly went back and re-shot most of the scenes I'd already taken - much better! (The Immature Black-Crowned Night Heron shot was also the beneficiary of this fleeting light change...)
