Nice timing Maggie. Pity about the perch and I would have liked to have seen the bird higher it the frame. Maybe the perch (? bird-table) could be included as part of the shot from a different angle next time?
Cheers,
Chris

I don't think I've ever seen an image of a Nuthatch with it's beak open. Certainly interesting though, as mentioned, the perch / setting does spoil the image as a whole.

An appropriate title for a cheeky little fellow. Nice shot Maggie, but I agree a little higher would improve the shot in my opinion.

I'm surprised that people find this image sharp. I'm not trying to have a go at anybody and usually don't post comments that may be thought of as being unnecessarily critical. I only offer this comment in the spirit of attempting to assist those that might want to know what to expect and aim for in terms of results from their cameras.

Maggie, Lovely bird nice detail in the eye area and great timing to capture the beak open. I also think it lacks a little sharpness and is too low in the frame for perfection - but still well done. Cliff

Hi Maggie I wish I got these birds in my back garden. Nice shot and the nits have been covered.

Hi Maggie, nice shot, great timing - nits covered about perch etc. Cannot believe Mr. Astbury wouold make a rude comment.
Thanks everyone for your comments. I did say the perch was rubbish in my intro. I just thought it was an unusual shot of the Nuthatch with its beak open and was worth posting. I am practising with selective sharpening at the moment so you will have to bear with me until I get it right. Always afraid of overdoing things.
Kim, just look at what he put on my Cormorant, although like me I'm sure you won't understand it

Hello Maggie.
Love the light on the bird, and the open beak makes for a more interesting image.
