COMING THROUGH THE REEDS & repost
I went over to Ridgefield saturday afternoon when the sun made it's appearance. The rest of the Portland and SW Wash. population was already there. I was convinced with the seemingly endless line of cars that not much would be seen. Luckily 3 bitterns had the duty weekend and put on a stalking/feeding show that most got to see. This is a favorite as the pose is a bit different coming through the reeds and I like the included habitat that they frequent.

You guys are making this place popular! Beautiful shot. :)

Excellent shot, Craig. Very sharp eye and clearly a bird on the hunt. Well done. I stayed home and watched the football games yesterday. Guess I missed a good outing.

I like this quite a bit. The perceived action of walking out from the reeds is very nice.

This is super Craig. The combination of the bird's pose as it comes through the reeds and the way the light is spilling into the scene make this a winner. Knowing that you are a master cloner, I wonder if it would be possible to make those three reeds appear to cross behind the bill instead of in front of it (incredibly nit-picky, but a thought)?

Thanks for the suggestion John, I hadn't thought of cloning those as I felt it added to the overall action of making his way through the reeds. I like the cloned version too, just not sure which I like best.

Wow, I am super impressed with your cloning skills there, Craig. I like both, but if I were submitting one for a contest, it would be the cloned one...the unobstructed head/beak really snaps.
