Ok, now that we've all had our fun at my venture in to digital photography, here's the image that I snapped about the time Dan busted me. Yes, I did have that little thing mounted to the tripod. Auto exposure, auto white balance, auto focus... it's got it all! 12X zoom picked up the far canyon wall near the head of El Capitan Meadow.
Here's a larger version that shows the details a little better. Winter wonderland would be putting it mildly.
Had a great and memorable trip to the Valley with Dan. It was great meeting up with Alejandro, Debjit and a quick hello with Tony as he headed home.
Hopefully some good ones come back when the film gets developed.
Why do you use LF when you can get these results with Auto-all?! j/k Looks like wonderland indeed!

Lon,
Congratulations, you proven once and for all that size really doesn't matter! Great image with excellent detail, Dinkly Dalton camera or no.
Believe it or not I was actually looking at that camera for my son Luke's next upgrade based on favorable reviews. The only major down side for us would be its lack of manual controls. Now that I taught him to shoot in manual thats all he wants to use. But this little Panssonic does a excellent job in auto mode thats for sure!

The auto composition was working well too. I am surprised you were not holding it out the window as your drove by.
Looks like you guys hit some great conditions. Can't wait to see more of what you got.

I wish I had the picture of Dan snapping a pic from his iPhone through the front window. I told him to stick it out the window, but he was happy just shooting through the windshield. I guess a better perspective or something...

Don't you love it when you get a keeper with a point and shoot. I guess you could hate it too, if you didn't take a shot with the good cam.

Sounds like a great trip and I can't wait to see the ones from the "big camera". Nicely done, Lon.

Very nice! I have been contemplating getting the LX3 or S90 for a while now as a camera I can place on a shoulder strap for quick grab shots. But then I started to really think about how often I would want to fiddle with Raw files on grab shots (which would probably be never), so I started to consider the ZS3. Now I think the longer lens reach and more compact size more than makes up for the lack of RAW... particularly if images look like this. Thanks for sharing.
