Tufties on grey BG
Quite nice light mid afternoon today and the water stiller than usual on this reservoir. This looks a little soft but I think it fits with the BG and mood. Not sure about the composition.

Thanks for looking.

7D, 1/500th, ISO 400, f5.6, 700mm
Handheld in very awkward position hence some of the softness.

It's still lovely, and I've seen softer, and taken softer, lol!

I'm afraid it doesn't really work for me Tim. I like the selective focus giving the 'banded' appearance to the water and background but the composition of the birds is wrong to my eye as is the lack of detail and the lack of sharpness.

It works for me :toast:

For my taste it's a little too soft and a little too central, but as stated, that's only my taste. It's still interesting to see shots that are a little different in order to challenge what we do or don't like in a picture. :toast:

I like the composition Tim and its a really serene setting but think that a touch of extra sharpening would help matters. My attention is drawn to the eyes so perhaps a touch more exposure in those areas would increase the connection when viewing. :wavey:

Hi Tim, I am undecided about this one. :toast:

Hi Tim,

Nice calm feel about this, although I would agree that sharper would have been better and I would of placed them off centre to the left, but I can see where you were going with this.

Cheers,

Lewis.

Nice composition, would prefer a little extra sharpening, otherwise it really works for me. :toast:

Lovely feel to the image with brillant POV,the compositon looks good Tim but for me I would have taken the two birds over to the left a tad, creating more space on the right and letting the birds 'look' into their own image if that makes sense? Really nice side lighting too  :wavey:

Thanks for the feedback - it's really useful. I might try this sort of thing again now and be properly set up in order to get a sharp and brighter image. :toast:
