Spent a day at Gigrin and got some shots of the Redkites, but I have to say I loved watching the buzzards and took plenty of shots.Although I always prefer my plain backgrounds I didn t mind this one it seemed to blend in with the bird

I actually like a background like this. It is sufficiently diffuse for the bird to stand out, but still gives some idea of the habitat. Nice shot, but I do wonder if a portrait crop would not have suited it better given the vertical shapes of both post and bird.

I know what you mean David I have got different variations of it and did do one in portrait to,but needing room for him to look into to I couldn t make up my mind if it looked right, have got one of him looking down and the portait crop works better with that one

Hello Karen.

Lovely capture of the Buzzard in some very nice light, and I agree the background works beautifully with the Buzzard.

A shot that is very high on my wishlist. I have them in flight and on the ground but not this classic yet.

I like this very much, and think a slight crop would improve it for me. :toast:

Nice shot Karen. Never yet managed one as close as this.

P.S. Have you ordered the Jack Pyke jacket yet? :wavey:

Lovely Buzzard shot! I too would recommend a vertical crop. I also feel there is a slight red cast to the image so i tried to remove that for you and blurred the BG a tad more...
Hope you like it better this way and if not no worries..

Don t mind the crop Jeroen but as I had said I had got variations on it myself I prefer the colour of mine to be honest and I was fine with the background.Just a query should you email before you edit a pic just wondered if that what the rules are

Nice one Karen - prefer the verticle but not quite as tight as Jeroen's post!

Hi Karen,

Sorry if i upset you by altering your image without e-mailing you first about it.
I personally would not mind if anyone did that with my images as it is only done with good intentions and to try to optimalise an already excellent shot.
The tightness of my crop suggestion is because is cropped it from your original shot and do not know wether there is more room around it in the original file.

Greetings,

Jeroen Stel

A tad 'warm' for my liking also so would tone it down a little but not much. I'm glad you took multiple shots and different orientations as it works well in many ways.
