Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus)
Hi All,

A photo from a recent trip up North.

I have a few shots from this and other take offs, but I quite like the way the wings are cradling the body in this one.

Thanks,

The highlights are just beginning to burn a little, but with a white bird in sunlight I guess that is inevitable. Other than that you have caught the lot. I am amazed by those tatty primaries, they look as though they have holes in them.

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. I've just reviewed the picture again and have noticed an unintended colour cast. The repost is better.

Great action shot Rob. Never mind the wings just look at those feet.. love 'em. Reminds me of that albatross / seagull taking off in one of Disneys films.

Hello Rod.

Superb capture with some very nice light and I have to agree with you about the wings cradling the bird.

I would be very pleased with this image.

Rob, I really like this and with that foot shooting forward ready for landing really makes for an unusual pose that works really well
