Buzzards Roost Arch
Last month I paid a visit to Buzzards Roost Arch in hopes of getting the now classic photo of the sun rising from underneath the great stone arch. I spent the night in the back of the vehicle and made the 2-mile hike in the dark with temperatures in the teens. And though the sky was totally clear that night, as luck would have it a band of clouds blocked the sun for 30 minutes after sunrise. My consolation was this shot, and the awesome experience of standing beneath the arch under a sky full of stars.

Great shot John. This is still a visually interesting photo.

I'd say you did pretty well - those are some beautiful pinks, purples, and yellows in the clouds under the arch. Don't need no sun in this one.

I like the color in the sky and the silhouetted patterns of the trees are nice. I think for the arch, however, I would like to see some detail (not too light but just enough to add some texture and tonal variation). The silhouetted trees work well, but there is too much empty space in the silhouettes of the arch and foreground for my taste.
