God, those legs are ugly. Only a mother could love it! I think this is the first time I have seen a shot of a bittern showing the entire bird. Well done Pete.

Do they have green legs, or has it just stood in the water for too long?

Very nice shot indeed. :toast:

Great to get the whole bird and it's a nice crisp shot. Lee Valley seems to be a great place to photograph bitterns. We have them down here in Somerset but getting a decent shot is proving tricky.

Really excellent Pete - don't see too many bittern shots with that much of the bird !! :toast:

Nice to see a shot of the whole bird. Used to live down there and never even saw it let alone photograph it! How well is it showing at the moment?

Great shot!

Dave, that door has been there as long as I can remember, suprised it has not rotted away, don't make em like they used too........
Chris, 4 bittern have been sighted at Fishers Green since Christmas. They are showing well at the moment but no Booming yet. There are 2 at Amwell NR as well, but me thinks they are one in the same birds as seen at Fishers Green as the 2 sites are only a mile or 2 apart as the Bittern flies .

A little large in the frame (not very often you can say that about a Bittern) for me but everything else is superb. The pose is great and to see it's feet is a bonus!

Fantastic Bittern, you say its cropped? I would give a bit more space around the whole image.
Well done!
