Route 66 Heap
Sometimes a wild sky just makes the ordinary a little better than what it would be all alone.

Excellent sky & placement of the horizon on this scene, Steve. If these poor old places could just tell us the past history here, one just has to wonder.

I agree, Steve. The lighting and color here makes it work. Good
eye--so many people would drive by this once or everyday and never see
its potential.

Wow! That is one intense sky. Nice work with the foreground illumination as well. Light painting?

Awesome color and excellent use of light... now just get back there with a step ladder (or tripod on the car) and raise the camera high enough so the paneling doesn't break the horizon line. Seriously, love the mood and scene captured here.

Paul, sometimes you can't find any info things like this, no history marker at the location either. I guess in the future they might have some info on it but from what digging I did it should take some time to find something. It should be part of the Nat'l Trails monument if the 2010 Desert Protection Act is passed.

Eric, thanks for the suggestion, I did think of standing on the car but too scrap around to back the car up into there.

I do feel that any subject that pierces the horizon makes it dominant, the higher above the horizon the more dominant it is. The opposite makes it submissive. I am in the zone of the inbetween here.
