Good evening everybody, hope you are all well! Thanks for the comments on my last upload, I read them all, and try to remember the 'nits'. Tonights image is a bit of a departure for me(I don't tend to take many shots in Portrait)! While visiting a Mates HIDE, we came across a knarly old piece of drift wood. I think it works really well as a perch, and I waited for ages to get a bird in the right position for this image. As you all can see it's a Coal Tit, but none the less I'm pleased with this image. I've used my lens at its 'widest' (f5.6 @this focal length), to achieve a Shallow DOF. I like the way the perch drops out of focus, and blends with the BG. All comments are most welcome, good or bad!
Cheers,
Paul.

the bird looks sharp enough not sure if the eye is a little overworked though could just be me and a bit more on the left would be better I think but nice colour

Thanks Karen for you're honesty, I thought I might have 'over cooked' the eye a bit! Well spotted, and thanks!

Lovely lighting and detail, just find perch a wee bit large fpr size of bird.

Hi Paul
the bird is excellent but the perch does seem a tadge big for the diminutive size of the tit

Good composition and detail, but the eye looks a little scary, and as stated the perch tends to dominate the frame..
Still a good shot of the bird.

Hi Paul,
nice shot and background
Nits about the eye and perch and room on left already covered

Paul I think in this case it would have been better to leave the perch predominately in focus.
I get where you are coming from about it tailing off into the background but because it is rather large in frame feel it dominates too much.
