Taken this morning in my Garden, Grey misty morning. I just likes the pose of this and thought I would share
1Dmk3, EF500 + 1.4x, iso800, 1/250th sec, f7.1, Tripod
I like the pose too.
Good sharpness where it matters.
would prefer to see more stem in front of the bird.

I do like the pose, and the great detail, but for me the bird is too large, and too central within the frame. If this has been cropped is it possible to see it with a bit more canvas?

I like the pose and colours on this Pete but would prefer it with more space all around.

I too like the pose Pete
its nice and sharp but I find myself agreeing that it needs a bit more room

OK I have reworked the image to give more room and make less central.... WDYT
I much prefer the second image. Definitely benefits from a little more room and less central composition.

Hi Peter
Love the pose which I think lends itself to a composition in the middle of the frame and because the pose is 'in your face' I don't dislike your original crop!

Hi Peter
Sorry - but I think the perch out of the back of the bird will always make this a difficult one- unusual as the pose is.
Cheers
