Hi Everyone!

I'm a member here on NPN but tend to lurk rather than post - although my New Years' resolution is to change that!

I recently volunteered and joined the board of a small photography charity in Portland, called Focus on Youth. The charity provides photography instruction and mentoring to 'at-risk' Portland kids, mostly refugees and all living below the poverty line. In May we will be holding an art auction at the Pacific Northwest College of Arts in the Pearl District. It's a great venue and we should have some well-known corporate sponsors and some fantastic auction items. We have some early donations from some familiar names on NPN, but I was hoping that the members here on the Pacific NW forum might consider donating some of your fantastic works? We would gladly accept framed or unframed items and in return you will get two tickets to the event, a tax deduction, and a real good feeling for helping out a worthy cause!

For more information, please visit: Focus On Youth Auction
or email me at andy_murray2003@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to seeing you on May 1st or out and about shooting before then!

Kind regards,
Andy

Thanks Andy,

This is a very worthy cause. I'll be happy to donate a print.

FYI, Erik and I discussed posting this as a sticky and felt it was a great charity event and well in keeping with our forum's mission statement:

A community for nature photographers of all ages and skill levels to learn and to share in the joy of nature photography.

I'd be happy to donate a print as well. How will you be displaying the prints if they are not framed? Flattened onto cardboard or similar?

Hi John,
Thanks! We're playing that one by ear. Our intent is to properly frame everything - we're working on getting frame donations so that's the plan. Obviously it's an estimate in how to maximise proceeds so if we can mount and frame for free we will do it, especially with higher-end images which should see good demand!
thanks again and we hope to see you at the event!
Andy

Hi everyone,
A brief update: we're getting a real nice collection together with contributions (in addition to you guys) from;
Michael Kenna, Robert Knight, Thomas Mangelsen,, Glen Wexler, Sean Bagshaw, Floris Van Breugel, TIm Fitzharris, Marc Ward and others!
I'll be at the Kennedy School event so can collect items there, but in the meantime if you've chosen your picture if you could send me a JPEG as we're working on putting the catalogue together over the next few weeks!
Best wishes and thanks for your kindness,
Andy
