Well, it’s cold and grey until spring. This month’s topic is “Winter Blues”. So, put on your thermal undies and get out and shoot!!!

One of my favorites from up at Dream lake in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Here's my kind of winter photography! It was winter in Hawaii and there's lots of blue in the pic, so technically it fits the theme, even if no thermal undies were needed! This was my first real attempt at aerial photography and I came away with five photos I liked. It could be an addictive but expensive hobby.

Oh, yes, Grant, Tunnels beach. There is supposed to be one of the best "wall" dives in the world there, but the outlet at the top right can be treacherous to snorkelers there. This heli flight over Kauai still stands as the greatest single tourist experience of my life. Glad you got to do it, and I can't wait to see your Na Pali shots.
Bill, Bert, and Mel, those are all outstanding shots. Holy cow, there is some talent on this forum!

Ok, here's one that is truly original. I've only seen about 50 others from this location. You can see a bigger version here: http://imagesofrmnp.com/photo.php?id=1327

Purple Mountain, just outside of Crested Butte. I was about to head out of town and noticed all the snow blowing off the mountains on the right. It was almost totally overcast, but just as I raised the camera to take the photo the sun broke through lit up the peak and I snapped the shot, a couple seconds later the ray of sun was gone again.

Here's one from November that I thought would fit the theme well. Moonlight on the Tetons.

How about the Wolf Moon from last Month?

Winter photography is slowly becoming my favorite activity so I have a few to pick from. But I think I'll go with one from this past November at Zapata Falls.

"Well, it’s cold and grey until spring."

Um, not in Tucson, it's not. Sunny, blue skies, and mid seventies! Do I have to wear thermals? I'd rather wear shorts!

Sangre de Cristo blues, from 2005.

Some cool images! This is one of my favorites from this winter. I have been torn between this and a fogbow (sundog) I shot a month or so back.

A scene from my Denver industrial photography project (The 303 Project), taken a few weeks ago when we were under grey snowy skies. This image is named "North Franklin Mood".

I took this photo during one of the first substantial snowstorms in Rocky Mountain National Park late last year. I forgot to reduce the ISO from a previous shot, but I still like this image even with the noise. Definitely winter blues - I'm ready for spring!

Does March get a theme?
