For those of you interested on the upcoming wildflower season I thought I would post a very useful link to Carol Leigh's Wildflower Hotsheet. Let's hope for a wonderful spring bloom.

Thanks John,
I think it is going to be a great wildflower season this year especially with all the rain. And there are already some pre-Spring reports of early blooms.
I use Carol's site all the time and even purchased her CD book as well which I find useful. After this weekends rains I would expect more reports to come in.
While I was living in CO we started our own Wildlfower Reports thread as a sticky on the RMNP forum. Maybe it would be a good thing to do here as well once things start to pick up.
That is a capital idea! Once wildflowers get going, we will create a "CA Wildflower Reports" thread at the top of CANP and we can keep each other informed of the latest hot spots.
We can do the same when fall colors come around.

With all the rain it should go out of conrol, I think my ear hair is going to bloom flowers out of it this year!

Not to mention there's another storm headed our way for midweek. That baby sure is cryin' it's heart out. I agree the wildflowers this year should be stellar! Rememeber it could start as early as the end of February in DVNP. I was going to go mid March last year and it was already done. Ohh and a thread would be a grand idea.

Everything is so patchy in Death Valley it never really happens all at once. Since there are so many roads that change in elevation you can always find something blooming. One thing is for sure the flowers don't live long at all.

John,
Great link thanks!!!!!
FYI I took a long wet drive up trimmer springs road Pineflat area and above.
Mustard, Poppies and Lupen are starting to bloom(not on fire yet)!!!!!! The hills are alive with major vegetation.
If you have never traveled this area you are missing out. Snow line was about 3800 feet around 30(long) miles above pineflat res.
Merced River canyon is not showing any signs yet......

Cool Jay,
Always good to hear of nice Springtime locations to visit in Yosemite. I remeber ~ 5 Springs ago when the valley flooded from so much snow melt. With an El Nino Winter I wonder if the valley could flood this Spring as well. My brother-in-law happened to be there during the last one. He caught some pretty unique perspectives of things from the temporary 'Lakes' which formed.
Will some of you guys also please give periodic updates as to the flowers in S. Ca?
I want to spend a couple days down there when the flowers are peaking.
Would also appreciate specific directions to flowered places.
Thank to all -
Sandy R

Derek,
You brother had a great chance there. I have some shots some where in storage of that spring flood. I was also here for the "100 year flood" in 97. Imagine a lake from stoneman bridge to the royal arches as far as you could see!!!! I have some snaps of a double bladed helicopter dropping supplies in to a zodiac at the edge of curry parking lot. Cool stuff to see....never again I hope
