Snow at Cedar Falls

Posting such a commonly composed scene of Cedar Falls to this forum I am guessing is probably like posting a shot of the Eiffel Tower to a European architecture forum, but I decided to post this for a few reasons: (1) I wanted to move from lurker to poster, (2) there was snow and ice in the scene and while I have seen many shots of the falls, I have not seen as many under these conditions, and (3) the light was pretty good and I feel like I managed to handle the exposure fairly well, except maybe for the area at the very top of the falls.

Of course I hope that all of you offer some critique of the shot. It's a single exposure made last Sunday on an outting with Matt Kennedy and Mike Hall. This was shot around 3:00 in the afternoon as the sun was filtering off and on through some haze and clouds. About the only editing was some dodge/burn to keep the eye on the good stuff and maybe a slight contrast adjustment (via curves).

Thanks for looking!

Great first post, Clayton. I like your composition, and the snow and ice add a lot of interest. Welcome to the forum!

Clayton, it looks like you have done a fine job with your shot of Cedar Falls. The snow on the rocks adds nice interest to a great scene.

Hey Clayton

It's good to see you posting. This is a great shot.. great composition with the rocks in the foreground adding some depth AND some information about the conditions. My eye is not being pulled up to the area above the falls, and there appears to be some good color to the pixels in that area.
I think I could learn quite a bit from you about dodge and burn... I see what you've done and it works well.
The only nit I have is, you could have posted this at 720 wide instead of only 500.
I look forward to seeing more of your work on this forum.

Nice shot Clay, I think I was standing next to you for this one. Gale, I was beginning to wonder about you. Haven't seen or heard anything from you in a while.

One of the reasons I check this forum is to see shots of Cedar Falls. This is a nice one.
