Question about galleries

I have a question about how the galleries work, and I don't see a "forum questions" topic, so I guess I will ask here.

I am just setting up my gallery and I uploaded an image, which I thought was going to my gallery, but I guess I was in the wrong spot, because it went to the Earth Sea and Sky critique forum, which is fine.

My questions are: It said the image will be removed on 3/12/10, which is about 6 weeks from now. But I see images in there from December and even earlier. Is that removal not actually going to happen?

Also, can I upload to my gallery, and not the critique section? Is there any reason to do that, or should I just always upload to both?

Finally, I am going to set up my portfolio as a new member of NPN. Do most people have both a portfolio and a gallery? Is this redundant? Or do they serve different purposes?

Thanks for your help!

Welcome Rodney,

The questions are all fairly easy to answer

1. Photos are automatically removed after a set period of time, but you can keep them permanently by clicking "edit" at the bottom it will state: Include in Your Gallery: Click the YES box.

2. Every photo you post in a select forum will appear in your gallery, but you cannot "post" just to your gallery. It must be posted to a forum first.

3. A lot of people have portfolios, but not all. It's a great resource, especially if you don't have a website, but I have gotten requests for purchases through the portfolio and you never know who will be looking through it. It is in no way redundant to your gallery, as you can post whatever photos you want in you portfolio
