And on the Sixth Day, the Lord Created....the Workshop!!
This was the scene this morning at Zabriskie Point. There were again as many up on the viewing platform. On Thursday I was alone down where you see all the photographers.

Wednesday and Thursday there were great clouds. Yesterday and today I'm paying the price. It was totally overcast all day yesterday and started to lightly rain yesterday afternoon. Today it has actually rained moderately hard. The wet desert gloriously reeks of sage. Should be some good wildflowers later on.

Here is another cloud shot, taken on Thursday at Badwater

The Zabriskie scene is ridiculous! Photographers pay others to take them to well established roadside icons that are well indicated on the park map?

While these scenes are popular everywhere, it amazes me how many workshop 'instructors' still do this. I'm sure that many of these events include group classes where craft is taught, but these lineups simply stifle any application of what may have been learned (or should have been taught). What's really bad is when you hear the leader barking out to everyone "EFF ELEVEN AT ONE SIXTIETH".

Tony,

If you're looking to get away from the crowds, the mighty Amorgosa is flowing  It's not always there you know. Oh, and if you try the walk out to Lake Manley it is a lot further than one would think when viewing it from the highway.

The view of badwater is nice but I find the small area surrounding the main focal point to the gold here.

It's amazing that they all like just the one spot at Zabriskie and won't move (get more creative) but you gotta keep the heard in tight. As centurites go by I doubt scenes like and at the race track, dunes, badwater, dante's view etc will ever change.

This looks similar to the line ups at the best spots along Bishop Creek when fall color is blazing, or at South Tufa at sunrise on a fall weekend. Unfortunately, it's not likely to change, as Steve said.

As someone once said, "This has all the elements of a well developed cluster - - - -!"

hahaha that first image from Z point looks a lot like my visit there last year. I wondered too why people paid good money to be taken to such a well known location. Oh well to each his own.

P.T. Barnum would be elated to see this sight. :)

A 4x5 crop (removing some of the left side) of the B&W image would look great IMO. Nice comp and tones throughout.
