Lagopus lagopus

Hi all,

Went up to Derbyshire this weekend to visit some uni mates, and did some photography too of course!

The light wasn't great, but this is my first decent shot of a grouse, so fairly pleased!

D200, 500mm F4
1/90sec @ f8
ISO200

Portrait crop from a landscape shot, contrast and saturation increased a bit.

C and C welcome as usual!

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

I would be delighted - I find them very difficult to get close to. A lovely shot and a super setting. :toast:

Looks as if he's out for a stroll along the road.

Nice capture Dawn. Maybe a little Higlights and Shadows tweak to bring up the detail on the underside, but only a little. I'd also be pleased with this if it were mine. :toast:

Hello Dawn.

Lovely Reg Grouse shot and as said the setting is very nice as is the colours of the background.

Dawn

I'd like to see a landscape image with the bird on the left and plenty of room on the right for it to look into.
Always nice to bag a first.

Cheers,
Chris

I think I would lighten the shadows by about 10%, following Mike's suggestion. Still a great shot.

A fine shot in an attractive setting. I like the dried grasses and the pastel coloured backdrop. :toast:

Not a fan of the gravel but I love the bird and the grasses so it works for me :toast:

Good grouse shot - slightly different from the norm.

Looks about right to me Dawn, there are some darker birds about and I can make out the finer detail on my monitor. Nicely composed :toast:
