This scene is from the road leading to my cabin in Colorado. The moon really seemed large as it appeared above the mountains to the southeast last week. I am not sure if the altitude ( 10,000 ft.) or the wide open spaces make it seem so large?
This was shot with my Canon 50D and a 70-200mm lense with a 2X extender.
Beautiful shot here with some nice twilight light.

A beauty Tom. I like how the fg snow covered field mirrors the distant mountain tops and I also like the layering. The moon and subtle pinks in the sky are the proverbial icing on the cake. Well done.

Tom,
If this is the last full moon it was indeed bigger. 14% bigger. The moon was 50,000 kilometers closer to the earth.
That, along with the magesty of the Rockies (and maybe the person behind the camera) makes this a great shot.

Excellent, but where in CO? I suspect somewhere southern?

Thanks for all the nice comments and Rod you answered my question about the moon's size. I did not realize that their are times when the moon is that much closer to earth!
David and Jan, my cabin is near Fairplay, which is pretty close to the exact center of the state. I think Hartsel, Colorado is located pretty much in the center of Colorado and Hartsel is about 17 miles south.

I was going to guess Summit County, I was a little too for north. It really doesn't matter though where it was taken, it is a very nice picture as everyone else has said. I like the perspective that the long lens gives.

Well done, Tom. I love the horizontal format and the way you've composed the scene.

Now that is stunning. I'm back here once again to try and capture some of this magic.
