If you were going to Exmoor National Park at this time of year for the weekend, what would you be shooting?

Thanks in advance for all responses

In addition to photographing the Exmoor ponies, frost-coated landscapes would be another option as the weather looks like it's getting colder again throughout the week.

Another in favour of landscapes....

Get down to Wistland pound resevoir or the islay marsh on the taw/torridge estuary.

Anyone asking "Are you photographing something rare?"

It was blanketed in fog yesterday morning and the trees were coated in ice. They looked very photogenic - when you could actually see them...

Thanks for all these tips, folks! I am curious as to why no wildlife subjects have been suggested though... is it the season or the location that's leading to the preference for landscapes?

Maggie, I don't get the reference, sorry..?

Come on, John,

Q. what would you be shooting?

A. Anyone asking "Are you photographing something rare?"

Made me laugh anyway, Maggie.

I must be being a bit thick as I still don't get the references... if you think I am fishing for tips on rarities, I am not: I just wondered what people went to Exmoor to shoot, in particular at this time of year - I've never been there, it looks quite wild, the tourist info sites all list lots of wildlife subjects but I am always disappointed by the claims of such sites and the reality when I visit a new location and so I was wondering if their claims are accurate or fanciful. If that's not info people share, fair enough, I withdraw the question.

No, no John; you've got the wrong end of the stick. Sooner or later you will get heartily sick of passers by who on seeing you with an enormous lens have to come over and ask if you are photographing something rare. They either frighten it off if you are, or look at you as if you should be in an asylum when you explain that you've got all that gear to photograph a moorhen.
Hence Maggie is right - they want shooting.

Doh... the penny has now dropped  Funnily enough, ths used to happen to me a lot when I lived near to the New Forest... and in Los Picos in Spain, I had people coming up to me all the time asking if I was after Wolves... I must have been at least 10 yards from the car park

Glad the penny has dropped, John  I don't think it is that people won't share such information, I for one have not been there for 30 years, and simply don't have any information about the area to share. Looking at the locations of members in the photographers section, coverage in that part of the world looks thin as well. You'll just have to be the trail blazer for the rest of us!
