Sand Dunes last weekend
I spent Friday evening and Saturday morning at Great Sand Dunes since I had to stop by to drop off a couple of framed prints for the RMNP show at the visitor center there. Friday's sunset was pretty good and a few clouds on Saturday made wide landscapes interesting.

#1: Here's a grassy one from late Friday.

#2: A shaft of light, a little bit later in the ripples of sand nearby.

#3: Telephoto view right after sundown.

#4: Some interesting patterns in the sand on Saturday morning.

#5: The view on the way up while climbing toward High Dune. Seems like it took longer for me to get up there this time, must be getting out of shape. Pano crop. Unfortunately the Crestones were behind the clouds.

#6: Finally, kind of an abstract. Not sure how I feel about this one, but it is different from the others.

Great shots Joshua. I'm really drawn to the abstracts here, #4 and #6. The lines, shadows, and textures have formed some nice patterns in the sand.

A very nice series. I agree with the others that #4 is a great and unique image.

I love the warm golden light in 1, 2, and 3. But I like the abstracts just as much. Great series, Joshua! :toast:

I love #1, but all others are great. Thank you for sharing.

Looks like a good trip for you. I wouldn't say you are getting out of shape. Instead all of that hair is weighing you down.

Like the golden light in 1 and comp. The telephoto shot is also really nice with the pink clouds.

Really like the rich colors in the grasses in the first image.

I really like #2 and #4, great series Joshua!.

Very nice series, Josh. I like your abstract & you might try cropping the dark area from the bottom, keeping just the thin line that is sunlit.

#4 rocks, even though it's sand now, I'm sure at one time in the past it was rock  Seriously, I really like #4

Nice series. I guess there isn't much snow down there either. The telephoto shot is killer!. I'm not as taken by the last abstract - maybe with deeper shadows.

#4 is a wonderful, unique take. Refreshing. I also like the foreground-filling grass in #1. I do like #6 as well. A bit tight at first glance, but kudos for trying something different/unexpected.
