Chickadee on ice
While out for a while yesterday, I caught this Black Capped Chickadee working on this ice sickle. I realized that it wasn't ice it was sap from a broken limb. It "fed" on it for several minutes, about as long as one stays in any one place.

Neat shot, Kendall, but I think there's a bit too much BG. Maybe a crop?

Nice shot. It is hard enough to get one of these to stay still for a photo let alone on an ice sickle. I agree a crop would strengthen the photo.

I like the way the chickadee is framed by the branches, Hanging off the icicle is a major bonus.

Great capture here. If it were mine I would take a little off the bottom and add some to the right (if it is cropped) as a normal 35mm format would go with the lines of the branches imo. I would most likely desaturate the orange/reds on the background branch so it does not compete for the eye's attention. A little contrast adjustment to pull a few details out of the highlights in the head, and you have got a winner here!

Nice capture, Kendall..I agree with the suggested crops.
Late last winter I noticed several birds going after the frozen sap on a Maple tree here, including Red-Bellied Woodpeckers and Nuthatches on the trunk of the tree when the sap was running down.
