Apologies in advance for taking a negative approach.

I'm confused. (I know, surprise, surprise...) Is Chikku a teen? Because (s)he's in the teen category. Nice shot, no matter what age group, though. It also fits the contest category perfectly. Which leads me to ask:

Doesn't a "Photography in the Parks" contest imply that the accepted photos were taken, you know, in a freakin' park??? I draw your attention to the first place winner in the same category. Cool shot, but it looks like it was taken from an apartment balcony in Denver. The third place winner looks like a shot from Anywhere, USA/World, not necessarily in a park of any kind. Ditto two of the three honorable mention shots. Ditto the grand prize winner in the adult category (even though I find the photo to be devastatingly beautiful). Overall, decent shots, but pretty disappointing to think that this is the best Canon received.

Congratulations!!
One of the best images I've seen from that viewpoint.

Awesome shot!

I also see Tad Bowman got an honorable mention for his Fiery Furnace shot. sweet!

Another congrats from me as well. Very nice image.

Todd - You must be confusing the front range with one of the overlooks in RMNP. That's Estes Park in lights.

I've wondered the same too. A couple years ago it was a national parks photo contest and one of the finalists was a shot from GARDEN OF THE GODS! As I recall, this year it was opened to any park, not just NPS parks.

But that is certainly not meant to take anything away from Tad or Chikku for their achievements.

HA! Good one. Actually, I'm sure Estes Park is somewhere out there!

Congrats! Beautiful image!! :toast:

Can we still toast a "teen" with frosty beer mugs?!

If I recall, Chikku said he is a college sophomore, so he probably is a teen. But he probably also knows about beer.

Very nice shot. Congrats. Wondering if it has been HDR processed to bring out the detail in shadows in the valley.

Congrats guys! I voted for both Chikku's and Tad's images so I'm glad to see them get recognized.
