Hi All,

Is anyone using ID Imager digital asset management (DAM) software?

ID-Imager

I am currrently using MS Expression Media 2, but it has issues with large PSD or TIFF files, so I'm looking for a replacement.

I am on a Windows platform and have no interest in Lightroom or Aperture.

Your thoughts on ID Imager are appreciated.

Preston,
I just purchased IDimager. It is a robust program. I like it better than EM2. I am still learning it though. Really good customer support. It has a bit of a learning curve, about the same as EM. It has some neat tools. There is a forum, http://forum.idimager.com/, you can browse thru for more answers to your questions. Also the program is half price through the end of February for existing EM owners. You will need to verify that with a proof of purchase or reg. key.

Thanks, John. I already requested and received a coupon code for the upgrade price. I took another look at the features and it's looking better and better. I'll check out the forum before I click the "Buy Now" button for the 'Pro' version.

Thanks again. :toast:

Preston, I too have been using Expression Media and have not been happy with it. After reading your posting, I went to the IDimage web site and evaluated their program. I decided to take the plunge - at 50% off - and purchased the pro version software. I haven't had time for a thorough evaluation, but so far it seems to be very comprehensive.

My only two gripes were with lack of clear installation instructions on the web site and the slow speed with which it created my first catalog. After you buy the program, you are send a link to a license, but not to the program itself. It took some fishing around to realize that I had to install the trial version and then run the license to create an authorized and activated version. Maybe it's my stupidity, but I like more specific instructions rather than wasting time with what was really very simple.

I tried to create my first catalog fresh from my stored images, rather than importing the catalog from Expression. I started my asking it to catalog 10,000+ images. Maybe another mistake, but it took several hours.

Other than these two areas, I am impressed by how much information is available. Switching from one group of images to another is very fast. Searching is also easy and fast.
I definitely recommend giving it a try - especially at 50% off.

Thanks for the info, Nick.

It looks like it will be a while before I can install the app. I had a hard drive crash yesterday, so I need to resolve that first. Grrr! Hopefully I can get this resolved before the special upgrade price expires!

Yeah, I know...Big time bummer. :frown:

Jon and Nick,

I installed the program today! It looks very nice indeed! I haven't created a catalog, as yet, since I need to learn how to use the app.

Many thanks!
