Foggy Sunrise
I shot this one this morning. It was a low hanging fog and 23 degrees. I expected the sun to come up a lot more red than it did - so this is what I was able to shoot. It has a dark, haunting feeling to it with the bands of fog across the sun.

50D, 1/500 @ f.6, ISO 400. 18-270 @ 270

Thanks for looking

wow Merle, the sun this morning in your part of the world looked an awful lot like it did down here in Conway, Arkansas.

Peaceful looking, Merle. At Wilson Lake, I didn't see the sun until after 10 am, the fog was pea soup.

Neat shot. I like how you captured a wisp of fog across the sun. I drove to Wichita yesterday and was looking forward to seeing the Flint Hills. Unfortunately, I ran into pea soup fog about 15 mi. south of Topeka and didn't run out of it until I got to Cassody - which is just on the south end of the Flint HIlls. So much for my "scenic" morning drive thanks to the fog :frown:

Thank you for your kind comments. I recently purchased the Tamron 18-270 for a travel lens. It saves packing a whole bunch of stuff that is a hassle on the airlines and is truthfully - heavy to haul around. It performs very well in a variety of situations - this one included.

Our back porch faces east and the sun hadn't started to show when I stepped out in the 8 degree wind chill weather. Fortunately, I was out of the wind. The fog was in a floating cloud about 20 ft above the pasture and not extending to far above the top of the trees. As the sun came up the fog dissipated somewhat and I didn't have the red sun we had for the previous two days. Oh well !!! Such is the life of an amateur photographer in Missouri...
