Olympus e620, 14-42 lens@ 14mm, ISO 100, f14, 1/500s, two images stitched with Hugin.
I like the dark, chilly mood. The field of view encompasses the visible portion of a wetlands in winter. The striking clouds are (unfortunately) due to the coal plant upriver.
A rather daunting sight Frodo. Like the larger image. The whole series has interest.

I'm not sure I'd call that Mordor. Maybe the Dead Marshes in winter?
Still looks to cheery for Mordor.
I have a whole collection of images I have saved that seem inspired by Tolkien.

I agree - Dead Marshes would have been better. :)

Here is a coal burning power plant in Wisconsin on the Mississippi River...

Interesting light and clouds. I like the way you framed it using the tree on the left side. I might be temped to crop the trees on the right side.

Dead Marshes works for me as well. If you hadn't mentioned the power plant, I'd have thought what great luck with lighting. Now, I agree with Dan, kind of depressing. Great photo, sad circumstances, unless it's "clean coal" technology.

It's about as clean as it gets - mostly vapor from the cooling towers. www.tinyurl.com/Sherco
